In a recent blog, we talked about increased demand for warehouse space as one of several trends affecting supply chains this year. Accuserv is no exception and is expanding its warehouse capabilities. In fact, we have a new warehouse planned in Dallas, TX and have already tripled our warehouse capacity in Louisville, KY, bringing it to more than 165,000 square feet.
Why put warehouses in those locations?
Our corporate headquarters are in Louisville, and that’s by design. We have strategically chosen Louisville and Dallas as warehouse sites for several reasons. First, Louisville is “a logistical dream,” as the KY Cabinet for Economic Development says. That’s because the city’s central location gives it a competitive advantage. And, it doesn’t hurt that Louisville is home to the UPS Worldport, giving us easy access for small package and air freight delivery! As the Lane Report states about Kentucky, “A huge swath of the country’s commercial and consuming population can be reached by truck or air within a matter of hours.”
Dallas, too, is centrally located. By positioning our warehouses in these cities, we’re able to support our clients by giving them access to the entire country in the least amount of delivery days possible, for both Less than Truckload (LTL) and Full Truck Load (FTL) shipping.
As always, we strive to provide convenience and high quality in the most cost effective manner. Positioning our warehouses in these cities means we can pass along the lowest freight expense possible to our customers.
What’s driving the need for expanded warehouse capabilities?
If you use Amazon Prime, then you’re accustomed to super-speedy package deliveries. As consumers have come to expect two-day delivery as the norm, businesses have responded by adding warehouse space in strategic locations. That way, they’ll have the right items on hand, ready for quick delivery anywhere in the country.
Another driver for Accuserv is our growing product portfolio. Over the last few years, we’ve added multiple categories of supplies and materials to our inventory, including:
- Wall coverings
- Print & collateral
- Operating supplies and equipment
- Janitorial and sanitation supplies
Along with adding new warehouse space, we have also invested heavily in technology. We’ve developed a customized warehouse management system that allows us to more accurately manage inventory, improve fill times to increase overall number of transactions per day, and create efficiencies within the warehouse to ensure we are operating at highest possible levels. We’re constantly investing in technology, so you don’t have to! It’s one reason why outsourcing supply chain functions may be a good idea for your business.
We’re adding new clients all the time, and the needs of our customer base are changing. In response, we’ve continued to expand on our customized warehousing solutions to ensure every client has the personalized solution they need. Some of those new solutions include our new fulfillment services, which require storage, consolidation and delivery.
